Travellers from Southampton can now fly to Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania through Dublin Airport following Aer Lingus’ launch of its latest transatlantic service on Monday.
The route is one of 12 UK connections feeding into the new Dublin to Pittsburgh flight, part of the airline’s expanding North American network which now totals 24 routes from Ireland to North America.
Reid Moody, chief strategy and planning officer at Aer Lingus, said: “This route strengthens our Dublin Hub and provides seamless connections between North America, Ireland, the UK and Europe, while supporting tourism, business and cultural links between Ireland and Pennsylvania.”
Passengers connecting via Dublin benefit from the airport’s US pre-clearance facility, allowing them to complete immigration and customs before departure.
Upon arrival in the US, they are treated as domestic passengers, streamlining the entry process.
Pittsburgh is the latest addition to the Aer Lingus network, further expanding its footprint across North America.
